Delivering high-speed broadband through next generation networks
7th of February 2012 - Tallinn, Estonia
About Agenda Sponsors Registration Supporting organizations Location
Workshop organized by three EU R&D projects will be held on 7th of February 2012 in Tallinn, Estonia and will gather key people from the European networking community to discuss about trends in next generation converged, wireless and optical networks.
Key people from the European networking community will meet together at the workshop entitled “Delivering high-speed broadband through next generation networks” that will take place in Tallinn to discuss a broad range of subjects (including technological, economic and political ones) associated with next generation broadband access. More specifically, the participants will address the challenges related with the near and long term perspectives of Next Generation Access (NGA) deployment. The workshop will provide insight into the main technological trends for NGA, including for example the novel concept of OFDMA-PONs. Moreover, the benefits and challenges of convergence between the diverse fields of optical and wireless access networks will be detailed. In addition, the workshop participants will offer insider views on architectural aspects, while the impact and opportunities offered by the new breed of access solutions and novel network design/operation business models will be highlighted.
This workshop is organized by three EU R&D projects:
ACCORDANCE - A Converged Copper-Optical-Radio OFDMA-based access Network with high Capacity and FlExibility. ACCORDANCE introduces a novel high-capacity extended-reach optical access network architecture, based on OFDMA technology. ACCORDANCE project is the main organizer and sponsor of this workshop.
OASE project - Optical Access Seamless Evolution. The aim of the OASE project is the assessment and development of next-generation optical access (NGOA) network architectures and systems concepts for the “2020” timeframe, focusing particularly on European requirements. The OASE project will examine FTTH solutions based on four multidisciplinary approaches: regulatory, technical and financial aspects, and business models.
ALPHA project (Architectures for FLexible Photonic Home and Access Networks) that studied the evolution towards a cognitive network by dynamically utilising the resources of an optical network infrastructure to support a heterogeneous environment of wired and wireless technologies, will present it's results on convergence of wireless and fixed home and access networks.
